Piano Studies
BioJoan Forsyth, DMA, pianist, holds a Master’s Degree from the Juilliard Schoolin piano performance and a Doctorate from Rutgers University. She has over twenty years of teaching experience, having taught both privately and for such institutions as New York University and Concordia College. For four years she served as the Director of the Concordia College Music Preparatory Department. Mrs. Forsyth takes a special interest in early childhood education and completed her Suzuki Piano training at the Suzuki Institute West (San Francisco), where she was assitant to Dr. Suzuki and Mme. H. Katoka. She is the Chairman and founder of the Bronxville center of the National Guild of Piano Teachers, and a past Chairman of the Westchester-Rockland-Putnam Music Teachers Association. She is presently a board member and Program Chairman of that organization, and Co-Director of Education and Outreach for the New Jersey Guild of Composers.Inquire about lessons with Joan Forsyth Read More...Ms. Forsyth is also an active performer, both as soloist and chamber musician. She has made appearances at such venues as the Kennedy Center, Merkin Hall and Weil Recital Hall, as well as tours of Europe, Japan and South America. Her playing has been broadcast on WNYC, WFAS, RAI (Italy), Vermont Public Radio, and New York Public Radio. She is Artistic Director of the Willoughby Music Festival in Vermont and has appeared as soloist with the Westchester Chamber Orchestra and the Westchester Philharmonic.
