| Trial Lesson Guidelines for Students |

We allow for up to one free trial lesson appointment with any instructor. All trial lesson appointments are 15 minutes per student, with a 15 minute allowance for discussion with the parents & students. Further trial lessons with the same instructor are paid for, but you may have further free trial lessons with different instructors. It is important for the parent to be present during all trial lessons. • For prospective piano students: Parents please make sure to have your child’s nails cut very short, and to have them wash their hands before the lesson. What to expect: The instructor will give a brief interview to the child; Questions may include: • Why are you taking music lessons? • Have you ever played a music instrument? • Have you had music classes in school? • Does anyone in your family play a music instrument? • What other activities do you have after school? • How much time do you think you will be practicing? The instructor will then give a very brief trial lesson to the child to assess suitability to the program, and to observe various aspects of behavior, fine motor control, attention span, and interest. This may or may not include the use of a piano. After that, the remaining time may be used to ask the instructor any questions you may have. It is very important to make the instructor aware of any challenges your child may have, including ADD/ADHD, Autism, Aspergers, Chronic Lyme etc... Additionally, it is very important to make the instructor aware of: • Your work schedule, will you be at home during the lessons etc... • What the student’s outside activities are. Regarding Cancellation of Trial Lessons: If you need to cancel your trial lesson within 24 hours of the appointment, it is considered a forfeit of the free trial lesson, and the rescheduled trial lesson is paid for. Rates for subsequent or rescheduled trial lessons: • Trial Lesson, 1 student, In your home: $54.60 • Trial Lesson, 2 students, in your home, $72.80 • Trial Lesson, 3 students, in your home, $91 |
